Famed Pakistani chef, cooking expert, and television personality Zubaida Tariq passed away Thursday night in Karachi. She died at the age of 72, due to sudden heart failure.
Born into a famous Urdu-speaking family, the famous Zubaida Aapa belonged to Hyderabad- Deccan, the one that was in British India and migrated along with her family to Pakistan in September 1948.
She had 10 siblings in total, but the most renowned ones along with her own self were Late Fatima Suraiya Bajiya, the popular novelist; Zehra, the poetess and Anwar Maqsood, one of the respected senior artists in the entertainment industry whose fame may be attributed towards his skills in field of writing poetry, literature, comedy and entertainment.
Zubaida, on the other hand, was popular for two things; one she was called the Queen of Spices due to her delicious recipes shared on various cooking shows and secondly she was known for her totkas. Her expertise lied in the field of home sciences where she proved to be a role model for many of the housewives. This is one reason, why she was invited to most of the morning shows! Her popularity began with her debutant show Dalda ka Dastarkhwan.
Zubaida Tariq Passes Away…
The whole nation was struck with grief and shock when the shocking news of Zubaida Aapa’s death was read out on news channels.
She passed away at the age of 72 due to heart failure on Jan 5th after midnight and saddened the nation with her demise.
Zubaida’s family confirmed her death news. Talking to media, Aapa’s brother Anwar Maqsood said:
“She was unwell for the past few days and died due to a sudden heart failure.”
Zubaida Aapa’s Funeral:
Zubaida Tariq’s funeral prayers were offered at Sultan Mosque in Karachi Defence Housing Authority after Friday prayers, after which she was buried in the nearby graveyard.
Zubaida has left behind a daughter Shaha Tariq and son Hussain Tariq.
Zubaida Aapa’s Last Wish Before Death…
Her last wish which was communicated to her husband, Tariq Maqsood, was to get this following message inscribed on her grave’s tombstone:
“Meri Qabr pr yeh zrur likhna: Zubaida Aapa totkay wali”
Zubaida Aapa’s Last Message Few Days Before Death…
On New Year 2018, Zubaida Aapa left a short message for her fans. In her video message she said:
“aaj saal ka aakhri din hai 2017 ja raha hai…Khuda Hafiz kehna chahiye, lekin kal jo 2018 shurru ho raha hai, aap sub ko bohat bohat mubarak ho. Allah miyaan hazaaroun khushiyaan de. Lekin InshaAllah hum ehad kerein…yeh humaara shehr Karachi jo hai woh chamakta dhamakta rahay. Hum shehr ko saaf rakhayn. Ke aaney waley log jo hain woh kahein ke Karachi kitna khoobsurat hai. InshaAllah ta’aleem pe tawajo dein, Government schools ko theek kerwayein. Taakey har bacha ta’aleem haasil ker sakey. 2018 itna khoobsurat aaye ke humaari saari takleef duur ho jaye”
“Today is the last day of the year 2017, let us say Good Bye to this year. But let me congratulate you for the beginning of 2018. May God bless you with all the joy and happiness that you desire. But let’s make a promise that we keep Karachi – the city of Lights, clean and pure. So that whoever visits our lovely city Karachi must praise the city for its clean and beautiful environment.
The government should try to modernize the government schools in the country and bring a positive revolution in the education system. Every child must get access to education, InshaAllah. Make this year 2018 so beautiful, that all our worries and troubles wipe away.”
Her demise was one sad news revealed last night to the fans and her closed ones. We only wish and hope that may the departed soul rest in peace and get the highest place in Jannah, Amen!
